The new extension is founded on the principles of open schooling. The building is centred on a double-height hall surrounded on the lower floor by library, music, kitchen and administration areas and teaching zones for the youngest and middle age groups on the upper. Divisions between areas are minimised and if necessary are of glass or movable partitions. A grand stair connects the hall to the upper level and this can be used either as an audience platform or a stage.

Casa Chihuahua – Modern House Design by Productora

Located in the desert-like northern region of Mexico, the private house in Chihuahua designed by architecture Productora. This house especially designed to accommodate the special climatic circumstances of the area, in winter temperatures can fall to -10C, while in summertime temperatures can rise above 40C. At night temperatures can drop by as much as 20C. As a solution, the house is partly built into the mountain slope to take advantage of the soil’s thermal mass. The colder soil around the house absorbs heat accumulated during the day, and at night the ground gives off heat to the building. The house is organized around a series of patios and roof openings that provide light, ventilation, and views to different areas of the house. The sloped roof blurs the boundaries between the constructed area and the surrounding landscape.
