The contemporary urban house designed by Feldman Architecture in San Francisco, embraces cool northern modernity, while paying tribute to its hot California roots with a unique open-roof design. The original house was a series of small, dark room with a completely unfinished grand floor and litle connection to the outdoor. Large folding glass doors in the lower level family room stack to one side so the room can be completely opened up to the landscaped garden.
The modernization of the house was made complete with contemporary. The two storeys of living space are flooded with natural light and modern touches at every turn. “With eco-friendly principles guiding the design direction, elements that once appeared dark and unwelcoming were given a glamorous new beginning with the introduction of translucent glass kitchen tiles, white oak plank floors and fold-away ground-level doors”.
