This modern house design with the contemporary living room style designed by Moho Architects. This house designed for a just married couple, protect the living spaces from a low visual interest street at the front façade and dispose its night and day rooms facing a big courtyard. This courtyard separates the house 3.5 m from the plot dividing wall, all along its east orientation. This movement allows the existence of a small back garden in the ground floor and a long private terrace on the first floor.

The hall, a semi-outside gardened courtyard with a stairs, drives to the terrace on the first floor. The landlords gain access to a dark wood decked floor that works as a “summer living room” and an extension of the first floor, where the living and dining room, the kitchen and a toilet are clearly set. The different floors are connected by a stair which is crowned with a vertical and well–faced fanlight that fills with light the spaces placed away to the courtyard.

This modern environmentally friendly seafront house embraces Singapure’s tropical climate by creating an open, breezy space, giving residents view from every room to the ocean as well as into the garden with its large swimming pool.

Called Fish House, this modern tropical house designed by Guz Architects is a modest and yet luxurious residential design which gives residents opportunities to live in harmony and comfortably with nature. The curved roofs, which symbolizing the sea waves, also emphasize the idea of the nearby sea. These are almost totally covered with thin bendable photovoltaic panels supplying enough energy to the house, while the remaining area is used as a green roof giving residents some outdoor leisure spaces.

Project description by architects / Stanic Harding:

The main street entrance was relocated to the new portion of the building. This provided a strong circulation spine from which all other parts of the house are accessed. The children’s bedrooms are accessed from the entry area with a further stair linking to the master bedroom suite and study on the upper level. Visitors are brought down into the main living areas of the house as directly as possible via the open wide stair within the vertically oriented entry volume. The main living area runs the full length of the site from the reinstated light court on the street side through to the mature trees within the garden. The kitchen / laundry area relates to the courtyard and is directly connected to the garage / undercroft space below. The dining space is bounded by a banquette seat running along the change of level down to the living area. A series of doors lead onto the raised terrace over the garage or down to the garden below. The garden level had to be maintained to protect the existing trees and retain the rear lane access. An external hard stand and a covered garage are located at this level linking to a series of subterranean storage spaces within the undercroft of the house.
